Our Winter 4v4 Developmental Lacrosse League (DLL) is designed for the new lacrosse player looking to learn the fundamentals in a short time. The 1x weekly sessions are specifically intended to introduce the skills and concepts of lacrosse to new players, strengthen the skills of current players and increase engagement in exciting and competitive ways, by maximizing repetitions and touches, otherwise not afforded new players.

Also open to the player who may need refinement to their current skill set, the 4v4 games at the end of practices will be on a smaller modified field and using a softer ball. Players will not be required to purchase any protective gear.

Lake Lacrosse /Florida Rush Lacrosse Merger Announcement

Youth Lacrosse was started in Lake County with our very first boys’ team in the Spring of 2008. Lake Lacrosse was formed shortly after that in 2010 and we adopted the team name of the Scorpions.   We then introduced a girl’s program in 2012 called the StingHers.  Over the years we have introduced hundreds of kids and their families to the awesome sport of lacrosse and had a lot of fun along the way. Our primary purpose has always been to teach and promote the game of lacrosse in a fun, safe and sportsmanlike environment while teaching and developing young player's basic skills.  Teaching those skills has always been a challenge due to the fact that our enrollment numbers did not support multiple teams. We had to play many kids on teams with broad age differences, especially on the girls side. Also, the opportunities to play league games involved playing with full field teams for the boys (10) and the girls (12).  For younger kids, this is not ideal because only a few players get to possess and touch the ball. Although our organization has always been a US Lacrosse Organization, we have not been been able to follow their age appropriate development model. Unfortunately, younger kids get frustrated because they don't think they are good enough and older players get bored working on skills they have already mastered.  As stewards of this great sport, we have always focused on “Honoring the Game". Honoring the game means doing it right.  In order for us to do it right, we need to have a lot more kids and our current program model does not support this.  That is why in spirit of honoring the game, I am excited to announce that Lake Lacrosse is merging with RUSH Soccer to form Florida Rush Lacrosse. The RUSH organization is a top-notch sports organization that has the resources needed to grow the sport of lacrosse the right way, by following the US Lacrosse development model. As part of this merger, we will also have the support of the National Training Center which as many of you know is a world class athletic training facility.  This new alliance will kick things off with a US Lacrosse sponsored TryLax event at the National Training Center on December 14th, 2019.  Representatives from US Lacrosse will be on hand to manage the event as well as current and former coaches from Lake Lacrosse.  The future of lacrosse in Lake County is looking very bright!
